Luis R. R. Siqueira
I am a Vancouver-based photographer, specializing in people and street photography. With a background in fine art and advertising, my work has been published and exhibited in more than ten countries.
Beyond documenting moments, I collaborate with individuals, brands, and creatives to craft images that balance narrative, emotion, and design. Whether capturing portraits, editorials, or street scenes, my focus remains on authentic expression and visual storytelling.

Artist Statement
My work explores the poetry of urban movement and the intersection of human experience with architectural space. Through street photography, I capture the fleeting moments that reveal the rhythm of city life, transforming everyday scenes into meditative studies of time, presence, and human connection within constructed environments.
Motion blur often serves as both technique and metaphor in my work. It speaks to our contemporary condition of simultaneous connection and disconnection, where we navigate physical spaces while mentally inhabiting digital realms. The moving figure becomes a universal representation of modern transit, not just through space, but through the layers of experience that define urban existence.
My approach to color and monochrome varies with the emotional needs of each image. Black and white photography strips away distractions to reveal essential elements: light, shadow, form, and movement. Color, when employed, adds emotional resonance and contemporary context. This flexibility allows viewers to focus on the core narrative, whether that emerges through tonal relationships or chromatic harmony.
Technical Approach
Working primarily with available light, I employ various techniques to capture the ephemeral quality of urban experience. Sometimes this involves slow shutter speeds to create motion blur, other times it requires freezing decisive moments in sharp detail. The interplay between architectural elements and human forms creates visual tension that mirrors the dynamics of city life: the solid versus the transient, the permanent versus the passing.
Artistic Context
This body of work sits within the tradition of street photography while pushing toward a more impressionistic interpretation of urban experience. Rather than focusing solely on the decisive moment, I'm interested in the full spectrum of urban revelation: sometimes through motion that reveals deeper meaning, sometimes through stillness that captures profound presence.
“Beyond his techncal training and extensive research, Luis’ work reflects a thoughtful approach to the themes he explores. Whether through portraits, or candid street scenes, his photography reveals a delicate interplay of light and shadow, infused with emotion, and personality.” Joaquim Sacco – Art Director
